Official Competition Rules

1. Overview

Last DJ Standing is a live DJ competition hosted by The Drop PHX. Sixteen DJs are selected from open applications and compete across multiple elimination rounds for a cash prize and a 6-month paid residency as an official Drop Artist.

2. Eligibility

• •You must be at least 18 years of age.
• •Open to all genres — house, tech house, bass, dubstep, drum & bass, trance, open format, Latin, and everything between.
• •No prior professional residency at The Drop PHX is required.
• •Applicants must provide a valid phone number (verified via SMS) and email address.
• •Each person may submit only one application per season.
• •Employees and ownership of The Drop PHX are not eligible to compete.

3. Application & Selection

• •Applications are free. There are no entry fees at any stage.
• •Applicants must submit a 15–20 minute mix via SoundCloud or Mixcloud, a bio, a photo, and their Instagram handle.
• •Phone verification via SMS is required to complete the application.
• •Approved applicants receive a personal artist page with a QR code and social kit to rally fan backing.
• •Fan backing is verified by phone — one backer, one DJ. Community support is one factor in qualification; final selections are made by judges.
• •Judges review every mix. The Top 16 are selected based on mix quality, fan backing, and overall artistic merit.

4. Season 1 Timeline

Dates may be adjusted. Competitors will be notified by email and text of any changes.

5. Competition Format

• •Each competitor performs a 25-minute live DJ set per round.
• •Equipment provided: Pioneer CDJ-3000s and a DJM-A9 on a festival-grade sound system.
• •USBs (Rekordbox) are supported natively. Controller or laptop setups are available by advance arrangement — contact The Drop before your round.
• •The competition follows a single-elimination bracket format through the Round of 16, Semifinals, and Grand Finale.
• •Matchups and set times are determined by The Drop and announced in advance.

6. Judging & Scoring

• •Sets are evaluated by a panel of judges selected by The Drop PHX.
• •Judging criteria include: technical skill, track selection, energy and crowd engagement, mixing quality, and stage presence.
• •Crowd voting contributes to the overall score. Audience members present at the live rounds can vote.
• •Judges' scores and crowd votes are combined to determine the winner of each round. The exact weighting is at The Drop's discretion.
• •All judging decisions are final.

7. Prizes

• •$700 cash prize awarded to the winner.
• •6-month paid DJ residency as an official Drop Artist at The Drop PHX.
• •Professional photo and video content from every round, yours to keep.
• •A featured artist profile on thedropphx.com.
• •Priority booking for future Drop events.

8. Code of Conduct

• •All competitors must treat staff, judges, other DJs, and attendees with respect.
• •No abusive, threatening, or discriminatory behavior of any kind.
• •No use of pre-recorded sets or playback. All sets must be performed live.
• •Competitors must arrive at their scheduled time. Failure to appear forfeits the round.
• •The Drop PHX reserves the right to disqualify any competitor who violates these rules or engages in unsportsmanlike conduct.

9. Fan Backing Rules

• •Fan backing is verified by phone number — one phone number can back only one DJ.
• •Backing cannot be changed once submitted.
• •Automated, fraudulent, or bot-generated backing will result in disqualification.
• •Fan backing tiers (Rising, Certified, Amplified, Headliner) are displayed publicly on each DJ's profile page.

10. General Provisions

• •The Drop PHX reserves the right to modify these rules, the competition format, timeline, or prizes at any time. Competitors will be notified of material changes.
• •By applying, you grant The Drop PHX permission to use your name, likeness, photos, and video from the competition for promotional purposes.
• •Each competitor receives a personal promo code for discounted tickets to share with their supporters for live rounds.
• •Applicants who are not selected for the Top 16 remain in The Drop's talent pool and may be contacted for future events.
